The Rose Theatre had been the last continuously functioning Nickelodeon Theatre in the state when it closed in the 1950's. Functioning as a 'Five and Dime' store since, it was returned to its true calling as a theatre and won an award from the State Trust for Historic Preservation in the process. The primary entry & concession area were established in the adjacent storefront (part of the same façade) and the space behind held in reserve for what later became the Rosebud Theatre.
