This modest, but solid, mid-century brick rambler on the NE slope of Morgan Hill in Port Townsend had commanding views of the strait that it was not taking advantage of with small spaces on the view side and a long interior hall to dim spaces on the landward side. We expanded the 'public spaces' toward the water, making them much more gracious & habitable, while enhancing the spectacular views and opening up the interior of the house to allow the spaces to flow one to the other. On the exterior, the existing roman brick was removed, the walls insulated both thermally & acoustically, and the structure reclad with a combination of stained, resawn cedar and painted Hardipanel, giving the house a truly contemporary look & feel.
